Anti-vaxers in Cambridge

I think I have some perspective on this subject. The authorities never could get the smallpox vaccination to work on me because (as they finally figured out) I was born immune. You see, my mother's whole family, herself, her five sisters, her brother, as well as her mother and father (my grandparents), ALL nearly died of smallpox in Virginia long before I was born. Saved, I was given to understand, by a number of their black farm neighbors in this very segregated state, who brought food, clean clothes and anything else that might help this family, unable to help themselves.
