Follow Up on the January 11, 2018 BZA Hearing for 1791 Mass Ave

Last night the Board of Zoning Appeal (BZA) voted 5-0 in favor of granting a comprehensive permit for the proposed fully afforadable housing development at 1791 Mass Ave which will provide 40 units (many 2-3 bedrooms, allowing families).

The plans call for the restoration of the Second Empire Victorian  (the "old dentists home") on the Avenue, a large new building behind it, and the renovation of two historic houses at the rear (on Frost Terrace).

The Cambridge Zoning Ordinance regulates the development and use of real property in the City and is controlled by MGL 40A .

The BZA hears requests for Variances, Special Permits, Comprehensive Permits, and Appeals.  A Variance is required if the proposed use or development is prohibited by the Ordinance.  A Special Permit is required where the proposed use or development is identified by the Ordinance as requiring one.  A Comprehensive Permit is required for certain subsidized housing projects.

Most of the plans and reports for the project can be found at http://1791massave.com/plans-and-resources/

I would expect both the BZA and the 1791 site will be updated soon.
