Cleaning and Greening Events

These events are open to the public and an opportunity for folks to learn about GWS and volunteer for a day in order to care for their community in a very tangible way. Activities may range from: planting bulbs, picking up trash, raking leaves, helping prep garden beds, creating garden signage, and more!

We are hoping to expand this programming to partner with other orgs in Somerville to add various locations around Somerville for these cleanups to take place. We would also love to be able to add a social element towards the end to have people gather to share in a meal, or Apple Cider making - but this will depend on COVID.

These are the dates of our events:

  • Sat, April 24, 9-12pm, Earth Day (clean up / garden prep at South St. and various school garden sites)

  • Sat, May 22, 9-12pm

  • Sat, June 19, 4-7pm, Solstice Party

  • Wed, July 21, 5:30-8:30pm

  • Th, Aug 26 4-7pm

  • Sat, Sept 25 12-3pm, Apple Cider Day

  • Sat, Oct 23 12-3pm, Fall Shut Down

We would love your support with both publicizing and volunteering at these events. If the PSNA would like to collaborate with us on any of these dates as a co-host, please let our food and farms manager, Emily Reckard-Mota, know!

Her email is: emily@groundworksomerville.org. You would choose the location (anywhere in Somerville) and we will make it one of our cleanup/greenup sites.
